Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Dr. Wendy Sowell Gibson the leading provider of vision care products and services in Benton.


Wendy Sowell Gibson, O.D.Wendy Sowell Gibson, O.D.

Dr. Gibson is a native of Marshall County and a graduate of South Marshall High School. After attending Murray State, she graduated from the University of Houston, College of Optometry.

Her husband, Bill, owned Gibson Plumbing for many years. He farms and serves on the Kentucky Plumbing Advisory Committee. They have three children.

Their son, Andy, his wife, Lisa, and two daughters reside in Huntsville, Alabama. Andy is an aerospace engineer, working for the U.S. Army Redstone Test Center. Lisa is a college English professor.

Their daughter, Cassie, received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of South Alabama. She and her husband, Adam, an engineer at Arkema, own Dawson Physical Therapy in Benton. They have a little boy.

Dr. Gibson’s youngest son, Nick, is a graduate of Murray State University with an agribusiness degree. He is a project manager for Bunge, and his wife, Lauren, works for Cargill. They also have a little boy.

Dr. Gibson received the Kentucky Optometric Association’s Young Optometrist of the Year Award in 1986 and the Clifford C. Leadingham Award in 2006.


Staff

Denise Harrison, a Marshall County native, is an optometric technician and the office director. She received the Kentucky Optometric Association Paraoptometric of the Year Award in 2008.  Our other team members are Terri Wood, and Lesia Dietz.
